TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Food Agency (Bapanas) is set to distribute social assistance or Ramadan food aid. The agency’s deputy for commodity availability and stability, I Gusti Ketut Astawa, the aid will be rolled out once a month for the next three months.
“So there will be rice, eggs, and chicken meats to be distributed but not at once,” said Ketut in Cempaka Putih, Wednesday, March 15.
According to him, the aid distribution will not only be carried out by the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) but also by the state-owned food holding company ID Food. Bulog will be tasked to hand out rice, while ID food will distribute chicken meats and eggs.
The rice aid will be given to people based on the Social Ministry’s integrated social welfare data (DTKS), while the aid of chicken meats and eggs will be handed to people living in stunting-prone areas based on the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN).
“It aims at suppressing the potential of stunting,” Ketut said.
Bulog director Budi Waseso reiterated that each registered family will receive 10 kilograms of rice. The agency will synergize with the state-owned postal company PT Pos Indonesia to distribute the aid door-to-door.
Bulog also explored partnerships with a number of rice producers to meet the need. Budi predicted that the distribution of rice assistance will commence this month once the stock is adequate.
